noisy night time police enforcement.

my boyfriend's band, the ruby groove, have a special gig coming up at night & day, manchester, in july, and we're going to set up a bit of a craft stall. i'm making lots of brooches and jewellery like those pictured (thanks to mr tiger for modelling) and hopefully we'll get a couple of friends selling their illustration work and 'zines. will let you know the date soon if anyone wants to attend.

i've had a super day today. i've got my blog up and working, have been offered a job ive been trying really hard to get, have made some brooches and had a mini photo shoot with my little brother, Thomas and my textile lobster . he's a fat cat who loves fine dining, dammit.

i'd like to get some of my canvases into galleries/shops, because im in desperate need of some pennies and of course im proud of my work and would like them to be seen and not hidden away in my room. i'd love to hear anyone's advice on how i should go about it.

i read in country living about a competition based on bringing back the nature table in schools. the competition was for families to create a project that somehow showed children involved with nature, playing outside, getting muddy, discovering leaves and feathers and plants and all the amazing things that i was lucky enough to do when i was younger. i decided on the idea above, that i would take my little bro to find out about local wildlife and create a textile mobile of what he found. to cut a long story short, i never entered the competition but i still came up with this wallhanging..ta dahhh!!

this is where the magic happens! that 'desk' to the right actually belongs to my 3 year old brother, complete with tiny purple plastic chair. really must find myself a studio...

i took this poster off a wall in berlin (i asked first of course) because i loved its piano illustration and text. im a sucker for all types of text, fonts, and i looove collecting old printing sets.

recenty, me and my boyfriend, oliver, took a trip to berlin. i really can't emphasise how good that city is, and advise anyone who's into contemporary art and culture to visit, before it's developed into another swanky city.
seeing the street art and local students artwork really fired up something exciting inside me, and we spent quite a few evenings on our trip sat inside our hostel room trying to note down and take in everything we'd seen.
these are a couple of collages i created whilst there. im thinking i might create a book/'zine of all my travel inspired work.

im really into keeping journals. they sometimes contain diary entries of my life, my aspirations, and daily occurences, but more often than not they usually contain scribbles, quotes, drawings of things that have caught my eye. i fill them in whenever i feel like it. and so far, i think ive filled up 7.

when i grow up,

my name is charlotte & im 21 years old. i have a long list in my head of all the creative occupations out there i would like to get stuck into, the only trouble is, i want them all.
i would like to be a...food photographer, a traveller, a bar owner, an artist, an organic gardener, a travel writer, a set designer, a printmaker, a food critic, a craft-maker, an interior designer, a ceramicist, a volunteer, a mother. it's a confusing place, my head, so for now im just trying bits and pieces of everything, here and there, like a tasty plate of mezze. my blog will show my artwork, my life and my inspirations. hope you enjoy the journey x.
